I’m calling it now: my future couples are going to point to this very session as the inspiration for their own. Everything about it is just so SO good: Happy pups. Wildflowers in full bloom. And all the warm summer nostalgia that comes with a laying in a sun-kissed field of dandelions. This St. Louis engagement session was truly magical and one of my all-time faves! Scroll on and just try and tell me your heart isn’t absolutely swooning by the end too.
Dani and Joey are college sweethearts who met and become friends through collegiate athletes. They’re incredibly cool and funny people to hang around and and I’ve been lucky to call them good friends for years. They center their lives around family and investing in friendships that are just as close. They’re the best at creating community, don’t take life too seriously, and love their dogs more than anyone else I know. (But who wouldn’t, I mean I’m not even a dog person and even I can’t help but smile at Lucy Lou and Jax whenever they’re around!)
Ever since they moved in together they’ve lived in South City St. Louis and couldn’t love it more. They often rave about their favorite local coffee shops and foodie stops. But top of their list is Francis Park because it’s their home away from home when they’re spending time with their dogs. They go on a ton of walks and spend nights out here often, so it was the obvious choice when it came time for engagement photos. And as lifelong sunshine chasers (if given the choice, Dani would always be at the beach), we knew we needed to capitalize on some golden hour magic while we were there. By the end of the night, I fell in love with the park myself, adding it to my list of preferred St. Louis parks I share with my couples. Between the wildflowers and the french-inspired water pool lined with trees, it’s photogenic everywhere you look.
These two wanted their engagement images to feel laid-back and effortless, and that’s exactly what they got. Everything worked in their favor to create their ultra-relaxed mood, from their timeless outfits to eventually kicking off their shoes in order to really run and play.
If these pics don’t sum up my entire vibe as a couple photography artist, I don’t know what does. I may need to go ahead and retire because I might have peaked on this one. Although, capturing such joyous and loving couples does make my job a lot easier, so maybe I don’t deserve all the credit. In either case, I’m obsessed with how these photos turned out as much Dani and Joey are.
Friends, thank you both for this special evening, choosing me to tell your story, and just being the all around best. I am proud to call you both (including Lucy Lou and Jax) friends. Sincerely, your Peanut Butter. xo.
