If you’ve been considering treating yourself to a parent’s-night-out photo date night, let Savannah and Dillon be your inspiration. With a new baby and a mobile life built around a military career, it can tough to find time for yourself. But while I was in Hawaii for another shoot, I posted my availability for a few bonus sessions while I was in town, and these two leapt at the opportunity! They were so excited to invest in themselves, get dressed up, hire a sitter, and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime phase of their life in Hawaii as newlyweds.

But a few hours before we were scheduled to meet, I got a frantic message from Savannah. “My babysitter fell through! Any chance we can bring our kiddo along?” And quickly panic turned into the sweetest twist of fate: getting to document this special phase of life with their whole little fam.

I offered to bring my travel partners along to our shoot together, and just off frame of every photo you see below that I took with Savannah and Dillon, their little boy Dex (and my friends) are having the time of their life playing together. Hand to heart, after a whirlwind of adventures in freakin’ HAWAII, this spontaneous playdate with Dex is still talked about as a highlight… 😂 And before ending the night with romantic pictures in the ocean, we snuck in a few family pictures with the whole crew on the beach. When I delivered their gallery, Savannah shared her gratitude for being so flexible throughout the session and gushing that the unexpected picture of the three of them together is forever one of her favorites.
